Community Business' campaign for greater diversity on boards:

We have long campaigned that diversity in the workplace and in the boardroom are essential to sustainable business success. Our strategy builds on this belief and is based around three key pillars:

Broaden our focus

We will continue our campaign for better boardroom effectiveness in Hong Kong but will move beyond ‘women on boards’ to ‘diversity on boards’.  This is a natural evolution for Community Business given the breadth and depth of our experience and research across the different dimensions of diversity since we were founded.

Extend our reach
Our membership-based operating model is based around mobilising and coordinating with the business community. Our focus to date has been mainly with MNCs with a strong presence in Hong Kong and the region. We are now extending our reach to Hong Kong’s local business community including the 1550 companies listed on the Exchange.

Foster coordinated and collective action
We believe strongly in the benefits of coordinated and collective action to bring about change. Many initiatives are now underway by different organisations to encourage more diversity. These are welcome moves and are testimony to the ‘can-do’ nature of Hong Kong. They can only help to make boardroom (and corporate-wide) diversity a reality.
