Work Life Balance Week 2015

Work-Life Balance Week provides a platform for organisations to demonstrate their commitment to work-life balance and raises awareness of work-life balance as a strategic issue in Hong Kong and across Asia. Since 2008, over hundreds of companies and organisations across Asia have participated by holding work-life activities and initiatives during the Week. This year it is taking place from 26 to 30 October 2015. Community Business invites companies in both Hong Kong and the wider Asia region to participate and drive change across borders.

Community Business and its member companies are dedicated to raising awareness of work-life balance as a business issue. As part of this commitment, for nine years running Community Business has commissioned research into the state of work-life balance in Hong Kong. Conducted by the Public Opinion Programme at The University of Hong Kong, this annual study has become the leading reference point on this issue.

Findings from the 2006 - 2014 surveys repeatedly show that employees in Hong Kong are dissatisfied with their work-life balance which is impacting their productivity, health and relationships with family and friends. They believe that senior business leaders and their employers can do more to address the situation.

Awareness-raising campaign
In October 2008, we promoted Hong Kongís first ever Work-Life Balance Day, encouraging companies to hold some kind of work-life balance initiative for their employees on that day. A total of 130 companies signed up in 2009 and 150 companies signed up in 2010. In 2011, we rolled out Work-Life Balance Week and encouraged companies to organise initiatives for their employees during the week that demonstrates their commitment to recognising work-life balance as a serious business issue.

We know that Hong Kong is not alone in the search for work-life balance. To recognise efforts made and continue to raise awareness on this subject in the wider Asia region, we welcome companies with offices in Hong Kong, China, Singapore, India and Japan to sign up for Work-Life Balance Week 2015. If you have offices in other Asian locations which are also participating, please let us know by indicating in the registration form.

Over the years Community Business has published a series of publications to support companies in their work-life strategy:
