About the Index

The Hong Kong LGBT+ Inclusion Index (Index) is the first benchmark on LGBT+ workplace inclusion practices and initiatives in Asia. Introduced by Community Business for the first time in 2015, it is a pioneering initiative that provides organisations in Hong Kong with a credible and robust tool to assess, progress and promote their efforts towards LGBT+ inclusion. The Index combines learning from global indices to ensure an approach suitable for organisations operating in Hong Kong.

2015 Index
Index Structure 

The Index is based on the recommendations outlined in Community Business’ leading publication: Creating Inclusive Workplaces for LGBT Employees in Hong Kong – A Resource Guide for Employers.  Whilst the structure remains largely the same as the 2015 edition, the 2017 Index has been fully reviewed to ensure that the categories and questions continue to drive the adoption of best practice. The 2017 Index contains 26 multiple choice questions structured around the following nine categories:



 

Submission Process

The Community Business 2017 Hong Kong LGBT+ Inclusion Index is now closed for submissions (Submission deadline: 24 February 2017).

For more information of the Index, please download the Index Framework which provides the questions in the Index and Information for Participating Organisations. Manufacturing businesses which employ fewer than 100 persons in Hong Kong or non-manufacturing businesses which employ fewer than 50 persons in Hong Kong may download the SME Version here.

Assessment Process 

Community Business invests time and resources to ensure a highly rigorous and credible assessment process. 

All submissions are pre-assessed by a member of the Community Business team to ensure that all questions have been answered and the relevant Supporting Information has been provided.  Where time allows, Community Business may contact the Participating Organisations to highlight any missing information. 

All submissions are then reviewed and assessed by at least two senior members of the Community Business Team. A scoring pair is assigned to each submission and assessors review each submission individually before coming together to discuss, align and agree the final score.

2017 Index Report
Presenting the consolidated findings from the Index including Index averages, observations and trends and packed with best practice examples, this report provides an essential benchmarking tool for those committed to making progress on LGBT+ inclusion in Hong Kong. 2017 Hong Kong LGBT+ Inclusion Index Report - Making Progress was launched on Wednesday 21 June 2017. 2015 Index       
The Index was run for the first time in 2015 and the results were announced at a Gala Lunch on 17 May 2015. Community Business also published a Hong Kong Workplace Inclusion Index 2015 Report (Executive Summary/Full Report) which presents the consolidated findings, Index averages, observations and trends from all the Index submissions by 35 participating companies. This report provides valuable benchmarking data to companies looking to make progress on LGBT+ inclusion.
