2018 Hong Kong LGBT+ Inclusion Awards – Now Open for Nominations!

About the Awards

Building on the momentum of our 2017 Hong Kong LGBT+ Inclusion Index and Awards, Community Business is excited to announce the details of our new 2018 LGBT+ Inclusion Awards. To broaden the appeal and encourage nominations by new entrants, we have introduced a number of exciting new categories.

Over the years the number and nature of the awards has varied slightly. We have now identified 5 ‘core awards*’ that are run every year.  In each non-Index year, we look to introduce a number of additional awards. In identifying these new awards, Community Business has considered:
 

         • Feedback from key external stakeholders, namely companies that have participated in the Index 
            and are active in the LGBT+ space
         • How the awards can be of broader appeal, giving opportunities to new entrants
         • New areas of focus that will continue to drive progress and the adoption of best practice

5. LGBT+ Mentoring Award NEW!

To recognise an organisation or individual who has made significant effort to support, encourage and mentor other organisations to address LGBT+ inclusion in Hong Kong. In particular, we are looking to acknowledge work that has been done to mentor the local Hong Kong corporate sector.

To recognise a marketing campaign which has incorporated and/or promoted LGBT+ inclusion in Hong Kong.

A marketing campaign promoted in Hong Kong - may include advertising, events, website, social media, etc

7. LGBT+ Inclusion Champion Award*

To recognise an LGBT+ employee based in Hong Kong who has taken proactive and effective steps to promote an LGBT+ inclusive culture in the workplace and beyond in Hong Kong.

An LGBT+ employee (any level) based in Hong Kong

8. LGBT+ Ally Award*

To recognise a non-LGBT+ individual who has demonstrated personal passion and commitment to promoting LGBT+ inclusion in the workplace and beyond in Hong Kong.

Eligibility
An employee (at any level) who does not identify as LGBT+, based in Hong Kong and who is not in a line Diversity & Inclusion role

9. LGBT+ Executive Sponsor Award*

To recognise a senior business executive sponsor based in Hong Kong who has spoken up and used his/her influence to promote LGBT+ inclusion in the workplace and beyond in Hong Kong.

A senior business executive based in Hong Kong who is not in a line Diversity & Inclusion role

10. LGBT+ Community Impact Award*

To recognise a community-based LGBT+ initiative that has had a significant positive impact in promoting LGBT+ inclusion in Hong Kong.

An initiative led by a not-for-profit organisation in Hong Kong

11. LGBT+ Advocacy Award

To recognise an organisation or individual who has advocated for legal and/or social change and progress around LGBT+ inclusion in Hong Kong.

12. LGBT+ Public Champion Award NEW!

To recognise a public figure (eg. politician, entertainer, athlete, government official, etc.) who has used their influence to promote LGBT+ inclusion in Hong Kong.

An individual based in Hong Kong

Jan 2016 - Dec 2017 (2 years)

Remarks
Winner of this Award will be selected by public voting after shortlisting.

Kindly complete the Nomination Form at the link above and submit before the deadline. No late submissions will be accepted. As you plan your participation in the Awards, please note the following important dates:

 
Selection Process  
(1) Nominations: Organisations to submit Nomination Forms by 5 pm HKT on Friday 15 February 2018.

 

 

(2) Shortlisting: Community Business to shortlist 3 finalists for each Award category in line with stated criteria.  
(3) Judging Panel: Finalists to be interviewed by a Judging Panel comprised of one or more external experts in the relevant field and one senior executive from the award sponsor, where applicable, and two judges from Community Business. NB: Winner of the LGBT+ Public Champion Award will be selected by public voting after shortlisting.

 

(4) Gala Dinner: The results to be announced at the Gala Dinner on 15 May 2018 at Hotel ICON.

 

 

 

 


 

 

 
Selection Criteria  

Recognising the role of these awards in promoting LGBT+ inclusion in Hong Kong, we will assess award nominations in each category based on the extent to which they are:

Positioning for Success in LGBT+ Inclusion Workshop Series 2017/18
Workshop 1 - Focus on Equal Opportunity Policies and Benefits


Specifically designed to prepare companies for the 2018/19 iteration of the Hong Kong LGBT+ Inclusion Index, Community Business is conducting a series of workshops from November 2017 to June 2018 in Hong Kong. Each of these 3 hour sessions will focus on different categories in the Index, highlighting what best practice looks like, facilitating sharing between companies and providing a forum for seeking advice.

2017 Awards  

Community Business has been running the Awards since 2015 to recognise the efforts being done by organisations and individuals in promoting LGBT+ Inclusion in the workplace and beyond in Hong Kong. In 2017, the results were announced at 2017 Hong Kong LGBT+ Inclusion Gala Dinner on Wednesday 17 May 2017 in celebration of International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOT).
