Driving Best Practice in LGBT Workplace Inclusion

In 2015, Community Business launched the Hong Kong LGBT Workplace Inclusion Index - the first benchmark of its kind in Asia. This initiative was a huge success - propelling LGBT inclusion into the spotlight in Hong Kong and highlighting the crucial role companies have to play. Through engagement with key stakeholders, Community Business has decided to run the Index every 2 years - giving more companies the chance to participate, prepare or make progress.

Specifically designed to prepare companies for the 2016/17 iteration of the Hong Kong LGBT+ Inclusion Index, Community Business conducted a series of 4 workshops focusing on different categories of the Index during June to October 2016. These 2-3 hour sessions highlighted what best practice looks like, facilitated sharing between companies and provided a forum for seeking advice.

WORKSHOP 1
Equal Opportunity Policies and Benefits (recap)

This workshop will start with the fundamentals and explore what a good equal opportunity and anti-discrimination policy looks like to ensure an inclusive environment for LGBT+ employees. In addition the workshop will look at what companies can do to provide benefits for LGBT+ employees, showcasing leading examples.

Date: Friday 17 June 2016
Time: 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm
Venue: Room 307, British Council Hong Kong, Admiralty

WORKSHOP 2
LGBT+ Networks (recap#1) (recap#2)

Date: Friday 8 July 2016
Time: 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm

WORKSHOP 3
LGBT Inclusion Training

Date: Thursday 25 August 2016
Time: 3 pm to 5.45 pm
Venue:
Hogan Lovells Office, Admiralty

WORKSHOP 4
Corporate Culture and Ally Strategies
This workshop will highlight the importance of creating the right corporate culture and in particular developing a strategic ally programme to create an LGBT+ inclusive workplace environment. Companies will have the opportunity to share their approaches and identify new ways to get their employees directly involved in LGBT+ inclusion activities.

Date: Thursday 6 October 2016
Time: 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm
Venue: HSBC Main Building, Level 40
