Asia’s share of the global economy has risen to a third; at the heart of this growth is India – often described
as an ‘economic powerhouse’, setting the pace of change and poised to take a leadership role – both in the
region and globally. As companies recognize the economic rise in India, business leaders are grappling with
how to harness the talent and potential of this vast and complex region.  Leveraging India's tremendous diversity
and creating inclusive workplaces to engage talent to contribute to growth and innovation is critical.  

In the last couple of years, Community Business has witnessed a growing energy and enthusiasm to address
diversity and inclusion from companies operating in India. For this reason we hosted our first country specific
forum in September 2011 – our Diversity & Inclusion in India Forum 2011, providing a platform to explore issues
such as gender, culture, generations and disability.

Through this Forum it became clear that there is not only a huge appetite to explore this subject – particularly
at this time of India’s economic growth, but that there is much best practice that can be shared between
companies in India. Community Business plans to remain instrumental in facilitating open and honest dialogue
on diversity issues as they relate to companies operating in India – conducting research and creating an India
specific network for companies and HR and diversity professionals operating in India.  Building on the model of
our regional Diversity & Inclusion in Asia Network (DIAN), this new network will be called DIAN India.
