Overview
Increasing the representation of women in the workplace, particularly at senior levels, by creating an inclusive environment that empowers women to succeed at every stage of their career is at the heart of every company’s diversity and inclusion strategy. Yet progress is slow, with women making up less than one-third of leadership roles across Asia. Despite the concerted effort and targeted interventions, most corporate programmes seem to have overlooked the fundamental role that women’s health and wellbeing plays. There are significant issues that impact women that can hinder them from reaching their full potential at work and negatively impact their mental health and wellbeing - from the challenges of reproductive health and gynaecological conditions to the fatigue of care responsibilities and even domestic abuse. Many women may grapple with these issues in silence, not wanting to undermine their position or simply feeling uncomfortable to share their issues openly, particularly in a male-dominated environment. The knock-on effect on productivity, performance and ultimately a long-term commitment to the corporate world can be damaging.
Community Business is seeking sponsorship to produce a new Women’s Health & Wellbeing at Work in Asia Podcast – Breaking the Silence. This will be a series of frank discussions with experts seeking to break down the stigma and taboos associated with women’s health, wellbeing, and relationship with the working world.
