Episode 2: Transgender Inclusion

Shubha Chacko, Executive Director of Solidarity Foundation, joins us for our second podcast instalment where we discuss the concept of transgender inclusion.

DIAN Decade Thought Leadership Podcast Series features a number of leading D&I experts that we have worked with over the years with Asian market knowledge. Each podcast will address a different topic, depending on the expertise of the featured expert.

Transgender Inclusion

Shubha Chacko, Executive Director of Solidarity Foundation, joins us for our second podcast instalment, where we discuss the concept of transgender inclusion and explore how companies can adapt to overcome resistance to sexual minority inclusion.  The Solidarity Foundation provides support to sex workers and sexual minorities in India. Shubha draws on her years of experience in this space to highlight the importance of intersectionality when talking about sexual minority inclusion strategies and encourages us to harness the recent momentum around transgender inclusion awareness to advocate for change and progress.

Shubha Chacko

Executive Director, Solidarity Foundation

Solidarity Foundation works toward creating a world that celebrates and supports diversity by taking up issues that, as yet, few funders focus on, such as sexuality. They do the work that individual donors and large foundations don't have the time to do: reaching out to activist organizations and offering close support to them to develop their campaigns and projects.

Shubha Chacko is the Director of non-profit organisation Aneka, based in Bangalore.  Aneka focuses on issues of sexuality, gender and women. The organisation works closely with working-class sexual minorities, sex workers and people living with HIV. Shubha has worked at the grass-roots level, as well as in academic and international settings, besides assisting in the authoring of several publications. Shubha is also a member of various coalitions and networks, including ‘Women against Sexual Violence and State Repression’ and the ‘South Asian Human Rights Commission for Marginalised Sexualities’
