Global Inclusion & Diversity Alliance (GIDA)

SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

Overview

In February 2023, along with our partners the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion, Diversity Council Australia, and Diversity Works New Zealand, we launched the Global Inclusion & Diversity Alliance (GIDA).

GIDA is a community of practice for peak D&I organisations from around the world.

We act together to make workplaces across the world more equitable. GIDA partners are not-for-profit organisations, working across the spectrum of diversity dimensions, specifically focussed on workplace inclusion.

We come together to partner and collaborate, to learn from each other, and to share thought leadership across our jurisdictions. We do this for the benefit to our respective membership networks and to make workplaces all over the world more equitable.

GIDA members all share a core set of values:

  • We are not-for-profit organisations. Our work is for-purpose, not profit.

  • We believe that D&I needs to be positioned in a local context. There are lessons we can learn from our global partners, but we respect that we each have unique local contexts and histories that must inform the work that we do in our own jurisdictions.

  • We collaborate to create value for our respective membership networks. We work together to increase our capabilities and by doing so enrich what we offer to our own networks of members.

  • We have integrity. We do the right thing, leading by example when it comes to being honest, trustworthy, fair and accountable for our actions.

  • We are transformative. We actively work together through the Alliance to advance equality in workplaces.

Launch

GIDA launched at the Whiria Ngā Kaha Workplace Inclusion Aotearoa 2023 international conference, to be held in Auckland, Aotearoa, New Zealand between 15-17 February 2023.

Community Business Statement

“At Community Business, we believe that working with others to move the needle on issues of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is essential if we are to achieve the kind of progress we need. Therefore, we are delighted to have this opportunity to collaborate with like-minded organisations, that come to this topic with different perspectives based on different lived experiences and cultural contexts, which help to broaden our understanding, shape our worldview and ultimately enhance the work that we do in creating a better environment in which everyone can flourish.

“Through partnerships such as this, we learn and grow as practitioners, to more effectively represent and better serve the communities we support. It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know and working with our GIDA partners, as we bring this collaborative initiative to life.

“We are thrilled to be a Founding Member of the Global Inclusion and Diversity Alliance.”
