The goal of the LGBT+ Mentoring Programme is to increase the number of LGBT+ professionals in the leadership pipeline in Hong Kong to influence policy and decision-making across industry sectors.

Overview

In support of our mission to bring positive change to businesses which leads to positive change throughout society, we are excited to announce the 2024 Community Business LGBT+ Mentoring Programme. This 9-month programme, which began in 2020, fills a gap in the community for a structured, professionally ran mentoring scheme to support early-career LGBT+ professionals.

Become a Corporate Sponsor

As a Corporate Sponsor, you will be supporting young LGBT+ professionals at a pivotal point in their careers and bringing actual impacts to their life. Become a Mentor

Through the Mentor/Mentee relationship, mentors can: 

  • Bring meaning impacts by providing guidance, motivation, and support to mentees 
  • Serve as a positive role model 
  • Create long-lasting bonds 
  • Develop leadership skills 

Prospective mentors should be: 

  • >10 years of professional experience 
  • Member of the LGBT+ community or a demonstrated LGBT+ Ally 
  • Passionate and committed about guiding young mentors in their careers 
  • Open to learn from their mentees 
  • Joining at least 3 out of 8 monthly sessions, at least 1 in-person session if they are based in Hong Kong 

 

Become a Mentee 

Through the Mentor/Mentee relationship, mentors can: 

  • Receive guidance from seasoned mentors 
  • Build confidence, self-esteem and become accountable for long term career goals 
  • Create long-lasting bonds 
  • Develop vital professional skills 

Prospective mentees should be: 

  • 3-10 years of professional experience 
  • Able to articulate their desired goals 
  • Highly motivated and committed to drive their mentoring relationship and achieve professional success 
  • Joining at least 5 out of 8 monthly sessions, at least 1 in-person session if they are based in Hong Kong 

 

Become a Session Leader

Throughout the 9-month programme, we offer monthly Professional Development Sessions to empower and inspire our participants. If you have a keen interest in bolstering the progress of talented LGBT+ professionals in their careers by imparting your wisdom and expertise, please consider being one of the Session Leaders and get in touch with the team. 

 

 

2023 Programme Statistics

We care about our participants’ programme experiences, therefore, we collect data and feedback from our participants to track their development progress and to improve the programme. After joining the programme for four months, we witness positive impacts on our participants that they feel more confident as LGBT+ (Ally) Professionals, more equipped as LGBT+ inclusion leaders and more supported by the LGBT+ community. 

Programme Fee and Deposit

There is no programme fee to join the programme as a mentor or mentee.

We will collect HKD 500 programme deposit from selected mentors and mentees. The deposit will be returned at the end of the programme once the mentor or mentee attends the required amount of sessions.
