2019 Gender Diversity Benchmark for Asia

SDG 5: Gender Equality and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
A long-awaited update to our flagship benchmark study, looking at the representation of women in different markets in Asia – enhanced with deep market data from Willis Towers Watson.

Community Business has been compiling its flagship study, the Gender Diversity Benchmark for Asia (GDBA) since 2009, with updates published in 2011 and 2014. Widely referenced, to date these studies have benchmarked the representation of women in multinational companies operating in Asia – and specifically the markets of China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore. The data has been supplied by companies choosing to participate in our benchmark exercise.

In 2019, thanks to the partnership with Willis Towers Watson, we are taking this benchmark study to a new level – firmly establishing its position as the definitive gender diversity benchmark study for companies operating in Asia.  Leveraging data from Willis Towers Watson’s 2018 Global Data Services Compensation & Benefits Survey Data, we have access to more markets, more companies and more datapoints – facilitating a deeper level of analysis than ever before.

Scope of Research

The GDBA 2019 will analyse the representation of women in organisations in the following markets in Asia:

    China
    Hong Kong
    India
    Indonesia
    Japan

    Korea
    Malaysia
    Philippines
    Singapore
    Taiwan

The data comprises both western multinationals and local companies and a range of industries representative of each market. The number of companies for each market ranges from 150 in Indonesia to 900 in China.

The new GDBA 2019 will present data and analysis on a market by market basis on the following:

  • Rrepresentation of women:
