SDG 5: Gender Equality and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
The Hong Kong LGBT+ Inclusion Index is the first benchmark on LGBT+ workplace inclusion in Asia. While the Awards recognise the exceptional dedication and accomplishments of individuals and organisations in promoting LGBT+ inclusion.

The 2019 Hong Kong LGBT+ Inclusion Index was open for submissions from 5 November 2018 – 22 February 2019.

This index is the first benchmark on LGBT+ workplace inclusion practices and initiatives in Asia. Introduced by Community Business for the first time in 2015, this pioneering initiative provides organisations in Hong Kong with a credible and robust tool to assess, progress and promote their efforts towards LGBT+ inclusion

Results of the Index and winners of the LGBT+ Inclusion Awards were revealed at the prestigious 2019 LGBT+ Inclusion Gala Dinner on 14 May 2019.

To give organisations sufficient time to make progress on their LGBT+ inclusion strategies, and to give time to help prepare more new organisations to participate, the Index is conducted every two years. 

 

Index Structure

The Index is based on the recommendations outlined in Community Business’ leading publication: Creating Inclusive Workplaces for LGBT Employees in Hong Kong – A Resource Guide for Employers.

Index Participation

Organisations could choose to participate in the Index at three different levels - Basic, Professional and Leader. The table below details the rate and benefits of each of the participation levels: 

 

The results of the 2019 Hong Kong LGBT+ Inclusion Index will be announced at the 2019 Hong Kong LGBT+ Inclusion Gala Dinner, which will be held on Tuesday 14 May 2019 at Hotel ICON. Organisations participating in the Index enjoy a discounted rate for purchasing a table at the Gala Dinner. Please refer to the table below:

 

Submission & Assessment

Community Business invests time and resources to ensure a highly rigorous and credible assessment process. 

All submissions are pre-assessed by a member of the Community Business team to ensure that all questions have been answered and the relevant Supporting Information has been provided.  Where time allows, Community Business may contact the Participating Organisations to highlight and request any missing information. 

All submissions are then reviewed and assessed by at least two senior members of the Community Business Team. A scoring pair is assigned to each submission and assessors review each submission individually before coming together to discuss, align and agree the final score.

This corporate Award recognises an employee network that has played a proactive role in promoting LGBT+ inclusion demonstrating strong engagement with, and commitment to, local Hong Kong LGBT+ employees. 

LGBT+ Executive Sponsor Award

This individual Award recognises a senior business executive sponsor based in Hong Kong who has spoken up and used their influence to promote LGBT+ inclusion in the workplace and beyond in Hong Kong. 

LGBT+ Inclusion Champion Award

This individual Award recognises an LGBT+ employee based in Hong Kong who has taken proactive and effective steps to promote an LGBT+ inclusive culture in the workplace and beyond in Hong Kong.

This individual Award recognises a non-LGBT+ individual who has demonstrated personal passion and commitment to promoting LGBT+ inclusion in the workplace and beyond in Hong Kong.

2017 Index

2015 Index
